The UCLA Luskin School of Public Affairs practicum program integrates academic learning with hands-on field placements, requiring students to complete approximately 1,100 hours across two years in community-based agencies, where they engage in direct service, advocacy, research, and professional development aligned with their chosen concentration.

For their senior year practicum, five students produced model legislation that can be adapted by any level of government. With this model legislation, Westwood Greenway, Inc., hopes to fight homelessness and advance sustainability by encouraging native plant landscaping on public lands while creating pathways toward green careers for disadvantaged workers.

The students, Evan Curran, Mischa Grbich, John Ho, Johnny Leung, and William Quinn were guided by community leader Dr. Louis Abramson and by Westwood Greenway, Inc. directors Annette Mercer and Jonathan Weiss.
